What kind of console makes these alert tones

ATTENTION BUFFS !

Okay, a mystery I have been wanting to uncover for a while is what kind of console makes these alert tones. I have a suspicion it’s Zetron though I am unsure if what model.

During the Suffolk County NY low band days for fire paging, when county (FRES, KEG977 etc.) would send out a departments tones, a DTMF string would be sent out at the end which tripped the firehouse tones from their base console inside of said department. I want to say a good 75% of them were whatever kind of console this was….. I have 2 examples here of the alert tones at the end of the departments tones. It is a 1206hz 5 beep, and a 880-480hz x3 Hi-Lo tone. I own a Zetron Model 25 and I know that their hi-lo tone is very fast and repeats much more, and the Zetron 4000 series is about the same too. This is unique and I don’t ever hear it in many other places which tells me this console whatever it is, is uncommon. Lots of consoles can generate those from button/LED Centracoms, Gold Elite MCC to AXS and every other third party vendor you can name. Hard to tell.

+1 on above.......both Avtec and Motorola MCC7500's can do these tones as well (yes, I know Avtec is owned by Motorola now). And, these sound like the standard tones and not "custom" that can be added after the fact to many consoles.

I just had to make a custom tone for MCC7500's, 1.1 second at 1000 Hz and 0.5 seconds at 800 Hz to open a relay for a fire station bunkhouse Public Address system. When I looked at the standard options, 5/6 and Plectron were still in there as well. Running Motorola M Core 2022.1 software. Had to mention that Plectron to one of the older technicians, as he installed many of those over the years.

We will be making another DTMF tone for another fire station soon, as there are many that have older decoders, or ones built from old parts that are still reliable and functional over many network "hops" and network latency.

Sounds like a Plectron hi-lo alert tone (they had several, including the slow hi-lo, fast hi-lo, warble and fast siren). Many consoles can emulate these alert tones, including Zetron.

Yes, Bohemia sounds like the old Plectron G8 Encoder alert tone.
