I use a Philips FM92 transceiver for my feed. Old FM92s are cheap as chips (often free!) around here and I think commercial radios designed for the band have better audio and signal quality than your general DC to daylight scanners. That, plus it's cheaper :)

I'm using a Pro-2052 for one feed that includes EDACS trunking. Recently set up another feed using an old Pro-2021, and have used a Pro-2020 in the past.

If only conventional analog is being monitored, one feature that could be considered an advantage on the Pro-2020, Pro-2021, and few other scanners is that you can use the RCA tape out jack for the connection to the computer. This means that you can listen to the scanner as normal, through the scanner speaker, and adjust the volume up or turn it all the way down, while the streaming audio feed remains at a constant volume. The scanner speaker is not silenced as it would be when you plug into an earphone jack. That may or may not be an advantage, depending on your setup and preferences.

I have a stereo feed. I use a Uniden BC780XLT to monitor regular police, fire, and the local sheriff for left channel. Then have a PRO-528 monitor CHP only for right channel. Both are hooked up to an Antennacraft ST2.
