Are there many models of scanners that can pick up analog, digital and trunked frequencies?

325p2 and the hp2 from Uniden.

Four to six radios from Whistler.

All the ones you mentioned are phase 2, so the answer is phase 2 also.

Mark, do you have to program the 325P2 the same as you would the others I have mentioned with firmware and what not? Do you use a computer to download frequencies to it?

Then the radioshack pro-668, pro-650, pro-652.
Whistler WS-1040, ws-1080, ws1088, trx-1, trx-2.

All do everything up to P25 P1 minimum.

There have been a couple of firmware updates for the 325P2. The most recent adds the ability to purchase and use a key to allow for DMR systems. You would need to program it, as opposed to the Home Patrol series scanners (HP-1 & HP-2, 436HP & 536HP).

This is correct. From Uniden, the 996 p2 and 325 p2 must be programmed or using Freescan and a premium RR subscription, downloaded.

The x36 radios and HP2 have an on board nationwide database you can program from or just listen to. They use Sentinel to update database and firmware.

Note that FreeScan doesn't support DMR programming for the P2 radios - you would need ProScan or ARC-XT for that.

And also keep in mind that the old 785D can't handle Project 25 trunked systems - that capability was made available in it's sibling, the BC796D. The 785 can handle the so-called 'mixed mode' trunks, with both analog and digital being used.

It can do p25 voice over Motorola at 3600 baud control channel. I don't believe it can actually track a true 9600 baud p25 phase 1 system, even with the card in it. Most true p25 systems were barely in existence when this radio was created. It's not even capable of rebanding, and can only follow Motorola systems on control channel only

This radio still relied only on banks and channels. This is an antique.

Don't remember if it has 700mz range either, which is where newer p25 systems exist. Certainly cannot receive p25 phase 2.

It does not do 700 nor 9600 baud. It does 3600 baud analog with digital voice as you said. The OP asked what scanners do analog, digital and trunked besides the 436, 536 & 996P2 and Mike said the 785D did no P25 period. I was only stating that was not accurate. And it is old, but it serves my purposes fine here in San Francisco for an "antique".

Fine.

However I certainly would not in any way shape or form recommend it as a scanner of interest for the OP.

High risk of disappointment when it could not receive MOST current P25 digital systems.

A 3600 baud trunk system is NOT considered Project 25 compliant, AFAIK. Such systems have both analog and digital talkgroups, and yes, the 785 can handle this. Not so with a 9600 baud system where all the tgs are digital. This is one the 785 can;t handle
