Super excited I made a free standing antenna system that I'm happy with that is easy and quick to setup. for POTA, Camping, or just portable.
I worked 15 people last Sunday most in Europe and 17 meters and 5 contacts where in the USA with a lot of long QSO's on all on 40, 17, 15m.
I wish I would have got this together sooner in the spring it is working real good. the AH-4 was water damaged I got it second hand for $60 and I was able to repair it added an SO239 and a waterproof fitting so that's a win!
Yaesu ft-891 I love this radio but Yaesu needs to fix some firmware bugs.
Icom AH-4 Tuner with a home made Tuner interface running on a Arduino Nano microcontroller I just press the button and it commands the radio to send out a single and tells to tuner to get on with it
4 - 1/2 Electrical conduit with a top whip from a Wilson 50000 for a 20 Foot vertical I may add 1 more 4 foot to bring it up to 24 feet.
the Electrical conduit is cut in to 4 foot sections with stainless steel slugs brazed in to the ends so they can be threaded together.
2 foot Stainless steel spike to drive in the ground to hold every thing up and 4 35' ground radials.
I hope this helps people with ideas on making their own setups and would like to see or hear about yours as well.
