I like to monitor the federal radio spectrum, but I don't like listening to the noise when I run across an encrypted APCO P-25 conventional frequency. When I have used both the Motorola XTS5000 and APX7000, they would mute the encryption noise. Also, my Uniden SDS100 will mute the encryption noise. What other radios will mute that?

whistler ws1080

The GRE designed models including those with the Whistler name on them do mute encrypted audio but that's it. They will stay on the muted talkgroup until the users stop using it. That can cause a lot of missed traffic on busy systems.

Unidens either skip encrypted TGs entirely or sit on them for maybe a second before resuming scan when they did not detect the encryption flag.

My Unidens flash "ENC" briefly before resuming scan. 325P2, 396XT and 996P2
I also see that on all of the current and recent Unidens but not always.
Paul (UPMan) had said the scanners don't always detect the encryption flag immediately when they land on an enc talkgroup. When that happens, they will pause on the ENC talkgroup for a short period of time and then resume scanning.
I think this is what's going on when we see ENC flash on the display briefly.
