What Should I monitor from New Orleans to Dallas

Does anybody have any suggestions of systems or frequencies I should program in my Pro-96 for my upcoming road trip back to college in Dallas, TX? I like to keep the local frequencies plugged into my scanner for long drives and to give me a heads up on any road problems or, even worse, state troopers. I guess it is a given to monitor State PD, but are there any other suggestions from scanner fans along the way? Your feedback is appreciated

Your best bet is the state police ,What i would do is just find one put it in ,
Then start monitoring it.But foor selection of what troop you decide which one suits you best.....

Thanks for the advice 250D. I figured I would put all of the State Police control channels and the statewide TA's. Do you think there are any other statewide systems or frequencies that would be nice to have? I also thought about monitoring the CB band since the truckers are a good source of traffic info. Does LSP have any choppers for running speed traps? I remeber the last time I made this drive that between Lafeyette and Shreveport (I-49?) there was hardly any traffic for about 3-4 hours, but my radar would pick up the troopers running traps on the side of the road every now and then. Well thanks again for the advice and if you or anyone else can think of any other systems to monitor, suggest away!
