It depends on your budget and Especially IF you have any APCO 25 systems in your region...
I bought the BCD396T
very close the the BCD996T except it's a handheld....
I LOVE Handhelds SOOO:lol:
The ONLY difference is the BCD996T has Digital
and the BC 15 T does not
Ohterwise most if not all the features are the same...
ALso go to the Uniden.com support and Download the manuals
Software and such for all the model you are interested in
That what I did,
And trust me it helps...

Looks like you could get by with a BCT15 just fine and save some money. Ft. Myers/Lee County is analog. The statewide system is Narrow band EDACS, but the control channels are ESK (encrypted via security key).
Just keep in mind that more and more systems are moving P25:roll:
As for now you can save some bread but eventually You may want a P 25 Reeciver...
Of course there are slightly older mobile P25 scanner out there
So you can have you cake and eat it too..
Just be careful as there are a LOT of scammer out there..
so read up and remember paranoia pays dividends...
And check ou Uniden. com
FREE MANUALS, Software etc
Like test driving a vehicle ...

Personally I have been VERY happy with all my toys but hey
I'm simple!!
The 996 is the newest scanner on the market, with the most features. There is not another trunk tracking scanner with more features on the market.
However, as Dave said, the BCT-15 would cover your county. It, & the surrounding ones, appeard to be all analog for now. The statewide system, SLERS, is a type of system that cannot be monitored when the ESK is enabled.
The BCT-15 has most of the features of the 996, with the exception of digital (& free programming software), for almost $300 less, depending on the dealer you choose.
