I have a Uniden BC246T and enjoy scanning local police and fire. I also have state police and the electric company programed in to the scanner under trunking. What other things are there to scan? Ron

Don't forget trains and planes. And perhaps boats if you're near the water.

You may be able to hear businesses. Also, other government agencies. You may learn helpful information this way. (I have learned of wrecks and road maintenance from listening to the state DOT.)

In my area, the Solid Waste Dept. is active on its talkgroups. I listen sometimes to see what they have to say. (Who knows, maybe one day something interesting might happen in the world of trash ?)

There's also ham frequencies.

darticus it would be most helpful if you would fill in your location (county/state is fine) in the User CP. You can get to that in the upper left corner in the blue toolbar under the thread title.

Becoming familiar with the Database entries for your area would possibly suggest other targets. That link can be found in the blue toolbar under the site logo. However, this is one game where a better antenna would be a great help. You would need to say a bit more about whether you can put something outside (which is the best place for it) and your situation there before anyone can recommend anything. Visit the Antennas forum and start wandering a bit. We have a pretty good Wiki article on the subject with tons of links. In the same toolbar as the Database, float your mouse over Wiki (found to the right of Database) and click on Antennas

Explore!
