I know in security work we use a stringer XT, small and compact, easy to charge. Plus, it is extremily bright and less weight then the older mags.

The mother of a buddy of mine retired from CPD and gave him her old Stinger. I'm not sure what other lights are approved.

Maglites/Kel-Lites where banned several years ago thanks to City Council pressure from the "Community". The Streamlight PolyStinger was approved for duty. Certain Units (Crime Lab, Evidence Techs.) can use the MagCharger rechargeable light. Some blue shirts carry the new Streamlight Strion.

When I worked for the old CHA Dept. I carried either a 4D or 6C Maglite. They were a nice "persuasion" tool if you know what I mean.
