Hi all!

I can not get the update to work I get the following message; Operation is Canceled, The remote name could not be resolved: 'ftp.homepatrol.com'. That is the end of that! I rebooted the scanner, computer. The only thing running is Sentinel. What is the problem? All of this was done at 0135 on 10/06/2021. Never had this problem before. Yo, Joe how do I resolve this?

Thanks
Al

Hi All!

I found the problem, the internet cable came out of the router. I plugged it in and it worked. It is always the last thing you check, the thing it could never be.

@JoeBearcat ...anything we can look forward to for the SDS series scanners as far as firmware updates? I did see a minor update to the x36hp series, really nothing that I can tell the difference on.

Uniden is like Apple, you won't find out about updates until the updates are released to the public.

Maybe a brighter screen for outside use, really bad seeing the screen I think in future radios a blue too option to your phone to see the screen and cantle it with out even touching the radio

If you are really concerned about getting firmware updates for your SDS, you should maybe consider getting a commercial radio or a Unication. For example if you monitor a certain Cap+ system a lot get a Moto XPR.

Many good suggestions on the previous thread I mentioned. Nothing wrong with making an improvement I would think. Unication pagers are too limited for scanner users, XPR's need to be programmed with Motorola software and the proper key codes etc.

Uniden SDS series were designed to "evolve" and accept upgrades, new features, improvements, and updates.

Since Mr. Paul died, there has been zero updates, no acknowledgement that there are issues, and they will see to them, nada.

When Mr. Paul was still with us, they were coming out every few months.

I hate to compare, as I really do not know their actual job description, but it just feels like the successor to Upman does not participate in these forums as much. Came in strong but not sure, maybe realized that the road is full of obstacles?

It's always the last thing you check, because then find the issue, fix it, and don't check anything else!

I said it before, I will say it again:

I read that before, and while I may agree on some points, "Air Spy Joe" portrayed himself in a manner which he gave the impression that firmware updates were forthcoming...."on the list". I read many good suggestions from quite a few owners who had legitimate concerns. As I read the latest postings, it would appear "the list" is being used to formulate firmware updates to accommodate new hardware for upcoming scanners. All the suggestions for firmware updates appear to have taken a back seat to newer hardware/newer model(s) that most of us probably won't invest in.

So what's the plan I keep wondering? Was this all a marketing tool used to keep the Uniden scanner owners engaged thinking things would improve? Those that are in "P25 only" areas have the Unication line of pagers to monitor what they need to and don't use scanners as primary monitoring device, so maybe this was to take some business away by dangling the carrot?

Yes we were very fortunate to have UPMan engaged and was able to suggest improvements to the engineers. When some of us offered to submit Debug logs for evaluation to be sent to engineering and was told "not yet" by "Air Spy Joe", my bs detector went on high alert. Why would their not be an interest in these logs which have been the basis of may firmware updates in the past I wondered? I called bs then as I do now.

But I could be proven wrong if a legitimate firmware update comes out very soon. I don't mean some fluff update, but one that addresses issues previously listed..."that list again". I know they have a beta testing group still active and some here are part of the group but due to non-disclosure agreements, can't post what's really going on. 10 months Don and nothing has materialized , no debug logs requested nothing to show. Just excuses after excuses...
