What's in your shack?

Just curious what people are using for their "shack" or home base station. (Not what's in your car/truck)

At the bottom is my 1977 Montgomery Ward 702 which i recently retired and replaced with a Radioddity CB-500. (Basically a smaller AT5555/6666 w/out SSB)
The CB-500 gets used 99% of the time. However, i switch over to the Texas Ranger TR-696F when i feel the urge for SSB which isn't very often, or when i really want to shoot some serious DX. I bought the 696F new back in 03-04 and did every mod imaginable to it. To aid in the DX department is an old Shooting Star 225. For my base antenna, and i know it gets some flack around here, a Little Wil mag mount tossed on my metal garage roof. It's a 2100sq foot garage, so i have a HUGE ground plane. Talked all over the world with that antenna over the last 20ish years since i bought it.


The TYT TH-9800 is not a CB, but it is a quad band radio that can receive 10/11 meter. I use it mainly for GMRS.

My cubbyhole consists mainly of a 6x3 foot desk with hutch that is my station and workbench. a 4x2.5 foot computer desk to the right.
Right to left, a Harris console, 6, 2, 70Cm, 7/800Mhz just left a 750 watt power supply. Attop that, a BCT15X w/external speaker.
Then my Kenwood TS-440s, mostly SWL, right now, doubles as CB. Next over, Agilant spectrum analyzer and 200 watt dummy/watt meter.
Wavetek function generator, SMT solder station. down to HP signal generator, and HP tracking generator below.
Far left, some various talkies, illuminated bench light controller then my vintage O-scope (don't laugh, its calibrated)
Down one to my small variable bench supply, then HP DVM with parts, GPSDO, a second 750 watt power supply, all on top of a 4U rack project box. A lot obscured for the density of junk/tools/parts. Total work area is 6 x 7.5 foot.
Not shown is my Barrett 980, more CB than marine and HF. A remote ATU and 10 cu/ft of boxes full of radios to get rid of.
Consider, all this from a 300 sq/ft shop with 8 x 4 foot bench.

A few things changed since June. I put up a Sirio GPS-27 1/2 wave on the house, and ordered a few more radios. The Radioddity QT40 is in the garage to replace the TR696F hooked to a 102" fiberglass whip on an old satellite dish mount. Otherwise nothing else changed out there.

The mancave in the house has a few vhf/uhf handhelds, Uniden Bearcat BCD536HP scanner, Leixen VV-898 dual bander i use for GMRS, and a Retevis HS4 for 10/11 meter.

CB radio wise, my base station is a Cobra 2000 GTL, with a Cobra 29 LTD Classic as a backup. The, it is just a mess, and getting worse as more is added to the collection.

Great rig! They are audio beasts on AM. Always wanted one, but didn't want to fork out that kind of cash for a few decades old radio.

They Cobra 2000 GTL were great radios! I always wanted one back in the 80's but could never afford one. I now have one along with a 2995 DX that was left to me by a silent key. Both are boxed up and stored away in the radio room.

funny how everyone gets this radio thing in their blood and has a lot of different radios....
I'm happy to have one radio on my work bench 5555 N II and one radio in my mobile ( I like to have the same radio in both locations and will one of these days)
....... and it's always nice to have a few of every handheld CB ever made

i got galaxy 99v,stryker 955hp,, and a outcom opa 202, kenwood tm 271v, yaesu ftm 200d,, yaesu ftm 2980, and a mirage b1016.
