Building and setting up a 20' rohn tilt base tower , the antenna will be just higher than my roof line . There is uhf repeaters throughout the county.
Antenna choices are, #1 sirio professional omni model spo420 , 420/470 mhz / 3-5.1 dbi.- #2 antenna specialists mon -31 with uhf nmo base mount -#3- par mon 3 antenna . * only for uhf reception * using coax , 50' < or less - times microwave lmr 400. I'm looking for your input on what antenna to use . Will enclose pictures when installed , late spring/ summer , thanks for any input !

Given the 3, I'd probably try the Sirio since it has some gain on the UHF frequencies you want. Benefit slightly from having an "N" connector, which is known to have slightly better performance on UHF, although I doubt you'd be able to notice it.

Having never owned one myself, take all that with a grain of salt. If the specs for the 3 antennas are honest, the Sirio would/should outperform the other two.

Word of caution, though...
Just because the Sirio has the fiberglass radome over it doesn't really mean much. Some of those low end antennas just have coaxial cable shoved up the inside and stripped back to make the antenna. Some low cost VHF marine antennas are just that.

I'd check for real world reviews on the amateur radio sites.

The Sirio uhf antenna cost $155.00 , will look into it some more , should be made out of gold for that price , thanks for prior reply!

I would look for a 440 Ringo Ranger. Very tough antenna and it works well.

You can tune it shorter to raise the resonant frequency if needed.

Should be about half the cost of the above.

I'll second the Ringo's. Good antennas, and you can find them used pretty cheap. I used to have a 2 meter Ringo that I got for free.
