I've owned the 2055 but the 163 seems to be identical; are they?

Thanks, but I still can't see much difference.
The 163 does rebanded systems thats about it

No, it doesn't, but it is CAPABLE of doing rebanded systems if you put in custom band plans via software. That's why some (many) people are frustrated with their PRO-163 and 164 scanners. They think they can just plug it in and they are home free.
