We talk, we learn. Jonesboro used to have terrible coverage.

And the statewide system before Awin? Troopers wanted lowband back!

Yesterday, they took the 147.330 repeater (Bloomfield) off the air and hooked it up to the "final" antenna on the tower and then turned it back on. I was able to hit the repeater with my 5w HT from here in Cape Girardeau. I was solid into the repeater and there was just a small amount of noise on my signal. If the MOSWIN antenna as anywhere near the coverage, it will be fantastic.

In other news - I have found out that Sikeston and Charleston PD will use the system as well as Scott County Sheriff, Scott County EMS, and South Scott County Ambulance. I do know know about Scott City PD or Fire - I doubt if they will - or Sikeston Fire. Supposedely New Madrid and Mississippi Counties are also agencies "loaning" frequencies in addition to Sikeston and Charleston.

How do you turn a radio on? You stroke it lovingly.

Meanwhile, interesting info - do you know if they are waiting for more sites to come online first, or are they looking at going on with just the first two sites?

I was told that literally as soon as all the MOU's were signed, they would send someone out to flip the switch and begin programming the user's radios (I suspect some have already been done).

FYI - Today at 11:30 on 147.330 there will be a District E ARES Communications Exercise. This should be a good opportunity for everyone to check the signal strength of the Bloomfield Site when it gets operational.

i copied a local small nearby towns vol. FD doing radio checks on V Call 1 today. Is it possible they are getting ready to be on MOSWIN?

Well, I guess it is possible, but one has nothing to do with the other. Any VHF agency in the state can use V-Call - right now. (Provided they do so legally by having filled out the MOU)

V-Call has nothing to do with the trunking system usage.

I'm probably butchering the definition, but as I understand it, this is a group of channels for statewide interop. Licensed I think to the state, and then any agency with valid FCC license for emergency agency work, can use them with an MOU.

VCALL is used for interop on vhf 155.7525, there is also VTAC1, 2, 3 and 4
There is also UCALL, UTAC1, 2, 3 for UHF users. And for 800 Pre Rebanding ICALL, ITAC1, 2, 3, 4. If the system has been rebanded there are called 8CALL90, 8TAC92, 93, 94. the difference is the name changes and the frequencies move 15meg down the band. There are also some 700mhz interop frequecies. and missouri has licensed a whole bunch more I assume for MOSWIN use.

Here are some more info.

In google search for (npstc channel naming) with out the hyphens of course, it is the second link, it is a small PDF.

Also for 700mhz

You are correct that these are designated for interoperablity, however, they are NOT 'authorized' under any state-held license. The FCC issued a 'blanket authorization' for these frequencies quite a number of years back. Anyone who holds a valid FCC license for another public safety frequency under Part 90, may use any of these channels for interoperability. Authorization has nothing to do with the state, in spite of what any MOU indicates. These are authorized under federal rules.

One possibility is that some of the agencies in Troop E are in the process of checking out their interop freqs as there is a Communications Exercise on January 27. I know that the day before (Jan 26), there are "supposed" to be some comm checks on most of the freqs that will be used.
