zzdiesel you may be hearing MODOT on their frequency of 151.130, they usually bleed over on VTAC 1 151.1375 and both have a PL of 156.7, gets kinda confusing, but I hear what you have been. Up here where I'm from I've heard VTAC used for Spec Ops and our CERT Radios have it programmed in as well. . .

I've heard MODOT has very high power frequencies, and you can hear them like they are right next to you even if you are a county or two away from them. Speaking of the new system, I can't wait to start listening in to it, up here in NW MO, nothing new happening. . . I keep on looking at troopers' cars and seeing if they have any new antennas or something, but it's still all the same.

Don't know where you are getting your MODOT info - still running the same power they have for years.

The new system won't be up in northern MO most likely till the second quarter of 2012.

Well up here in the NW District they have one tower in Harrison County with 350 watts of power, I'm a few counties south and still pick them up with nearly all bars signal strength. . . as for the new system that's what I was figuring, I was hoping earlier, but I can wait. . . I'm excited to start listening to the new statewide system. . . should be interesting!!

Yes, there are some 350 watt repeaters licensed, but with no changes in years.

Missouri Makes Interoperability Top Priority Through Grant Process

As part of the work to build a new statewide public-safety network in Missouri, local and state officials helped develop a state-run grant process for interoperable communications. Local agencies that are willing to contribute licensed frequencies to the statewide system can get federal interoperability grant money to increase or establish access to the system, said Steve Devine, interoperability program manager for the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

It would seem like the move to the statewide system would be a downgrade for some municipalities that currently have 95% portable coverage and closer to 100% mobile coverage. (through the use of satellite receivers).

Many counties however, currently use extenders for portable coverage, and would probably feel no-change, or even better coverage if they hopped onto the statewide system.

With so many agencies left to either replace or narrow band their existing systems, I can't help but wonder how some lone agency in northwest Missouri buying an 800 Mhz system is going to throw a monkey wrench into the master plan.

At this point, I think that the 2013 narrow band deadline is going to reach northwest Missouri before the MOSWIN system does.

The State of Missouri, has applied for their first statewide interoperability trunking radio license on the FCC Web site. The location is roughly 5 kilometers NE of Bloomfield, in Stoddard County. More information about this license request can be found on their Web site.

While running around over there Saturday, I ID'd on the 2meter a number of times. This of course gives something of an indication of the coverage of the bloomfield tower on the new state system, so it is on topic.

Cherokee Pass it was basically full quieting. North end of Piedmont it was usable. On the hill at Van Buren it was usable. I meant to try from Fremont, and think I could have hit it from the Shannon/Carter line, but it slipped by me.

Basically, really nice coverage!

I am currently picking up a P25 control channel on 152.54. Heard Sikeston PD once today. Site ID is 3F8. I believe Sikeston PD talkgroup showed as 3402.
