Going through some of my files I came across a recording from 2016 I had saved. I recorded it on a homepatrol in the car on 166.5125 $001 (WHCA/USSS Sierra). It was obviously an aircraft conducting some sort of exercise and calling multiple stations..

"BLUE TANGO, BLUE TANGO, this is AMERICAN GIRL on Sierra, how copy, over?".

This would repeat with "American Girl" eventually calling "Blue Tango", "Irish Wine", "Catskin", and "Little Casino" multiple times "repolling" the stations.

It concluded with "All Stations, All Stations, This is AMERICAN GIRL currently 150 nautical miles. This concludes all testing this medium."

Anyone ever heard anything like this or these callsigns?

Sounds like WHCA was testing something based on the call signs. Back when I worked for the USSS, Sierra frequency was used by the White House staff on presidential and VP trips. The USSS radios did not have Sierra frequency in the lineup. During the trip advance, the lead USSS agent would be issued a WHCA walkie talkie that contained Sierra so that the agent could communicate with the lead staff advance person.

That's interesting. I distinctly remember something of that sort several years ago, and had forgotten about it. But yeah, it was definitely an aircraft of some sort doing radio checks around the DFW area. WAG, but perhaps it was some sort of nationwide test, considering AF1 mods were being done at L3 Greenville TX (KGVT) at the time.

I remember this period with Sierra in the Philly area.
I think we pinned it to the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of the month back in 2014. Started off as P25C but as months went by it went P25E.

Then it ended.

One note I have was "Nightwatch clng Venus on VHF non secure"

Both of those call signs were active back when I was working.

The first one has been active long long long before I worked there, and I worked there a long time ago. That is a very cool thing to come across on a scanner.
