Mylan contacted me this morning and told me that radio techs had informed the dispatchers that the trunked system was going down and to switch to talkaround until further notice.

Later on in the day the trunked system was back online, on its old 860 Mhz frequencies.

So for those of you who monitor Wheeling, if you aren't able to monitor them right now, stick the old control channels in your Wheeling trunked system along with the new ones so that you can trunk it now [with the old freqs] and later [when they go back to the rebanded freqs].

866.9875
867.2625
868.2625

If you program those three trunked channels in as additional channels besides the 851/852 freqs, you should start picking up the system again.

I just posted on Scan Ohio Valley - I don't feel like changing the Live Feed! Dang those techs with the problems in the system!

PS: I responded to your SOV post Jordan. I don't know if Ed is still up or accepting calls or I would call him. If you are in touch, please let him know.

Thanks

ROFL, all ya gotta do is program 3 frequencies into your existing Wheeling trunked system. Should only take a few minutes at most bud. Leave everything like it is but add those three freqs and it should work fine.

Ed knows the details as he talked to C6 this evening. I will go program - unsure if it will be tonight. I don't have access to those scanners at this time...haha I should take it offline - I do have the power to do that or atleast put a note up.

Yeah probably a good idea to putt up a brief status message if you choose to leave it online. No telling how long it will be in its present state. They might fix it early tomorrow and it might be back to normal before you even get a chance to add the other freqs. So maybe you'll just want to leave it online and provide a brief status saying it's currently experiencing troubles or something heh

Doubled up the freq......

The administrator for the Wheeling City Public Safety Page needs to look at what he posted for the old system frequencies as it reads......

001 1 Primary 866.53750 866.98750c 867.26250c 867.26250c

The 867.2650 is doubled, one should be changed to 868.2625. Not a big deal to most of the folks here however I received a phone call from a person in Wheeling that I turned on to RR a while back and he was all confused.

For all I know it could be back online with the new system. Since I don't live down in Wheeling anymore I won't know. So can someone enlighten me and let me know if they are up and running the new system again or still using the old one?

Wheeling City Building

I just got a phone call from my father in wheeling about the city system. There is something going on tomorrow 2/18 at the city building with a few state dignitaries. They are going to announce that the city is going statewide with their radio system. Could this just be a bunch of BS or could this be a fact? I don't know where he could hear something like this since nobody here has said anything about it but he is a retired city fireman so he must have some inside information. Stay tuned to the noon and evening new for more info.

You're probably right. And sure, that would benefit Police/Fire so I'm sure there may be somebody there at the announcement.... they can get their porn a lot quicker on the super duper information highway. Bummer, I was hoping for some radio news. Nothing exciting here (unless you are a west virginian using dialup, which I am not).

Second hand, third or maybe even more.

Sorry to put something out there that was only about half fact! I was just passing along what I was given. Next time I will be more conservative while fact finding. I hate when that happens...

As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather you tell us what you hear like you did this time. At least this way there were people on top of it trying to keep up to date on the latest happenings with the system. Sure beats being totally blind to a situation if ya know what i mean.

I appreciate you informing us of what you had heard.

Well here we are nine months later and nothing has been done to re-reband this radio system.... Certainly they wouldn't just sweep this issue under the rug... Don't they have to have it rebanded by a certain date? anybody have any inside info?

I'll ask somebody and will see if that someobody has an answer. Haven't heard from you in ages chief. Look me up on MSN. Glad to see you've thus far made it through another year of climbing insane heights.

Well i have been away for a week and i'm actually surprised to see no posts here mentioning that as of last Tuesday, Wheeling has re-rebanded and they are using the same -15mhz frequencies that they originally were on when they had to revert....

When Wheeling had problems last year and moved back to the original 86x. channels, I just left the 85x frequencies programed and locked in to my radios and thus when they did their rebanding last week, my radios changed over seamlessly :)....
