Couple normally = 2. We're at 2 weeks now so something may happen any day now.

Not surprised that tomorrow makes another week (3) and no firmware update. When they say couple, they should have said months.

Nothing happened I think some one got confused with the firmware update and the clock and display issues. As UPman stated in another thread about a few months lead time on parts for above said issue or issues. The few months comment had nothing to do with the firmware.

OK! Thanks for clearing that up. Even so, nothing excuses the countless of complaints and /or bug problems that have gone unanswered or unfixed, THEN, another scanner line comes out....Basically we are stuck. In my opinion, whatever we have now we are stuck with and any hope of firmware upgrades are futile, I hope I'm wrong but given Uniden's track record, I'm not very hopeful. Let's face it, Uniden does a great job advertizing their new latest and greatest products, but after that it''s pretty much over....

The x36 has not been replaced by any other line, and likely won't be for years.

I will also remind you that the rebanding firmware updates were released several models post-discontinue, so their track record is actually pretty good for discontinued models (of which the x36 line is not)

don't hold your breathe, they will get to you after they release a few new models.

I have to agree with Voyager--- I don't think we are going to see any more "top-of-the-line" models from Uniden, at least not until the 436/536 feature set has been completed. The HP2 and the 996P2 were not really "new"--- they were merely logical extensions of existing hardware with Phase II capability incorporated.

The most informed and knowledgeable Uniden users are right here on this forum; for every active member contributing information here, there are likely 100 folks just lurking here and reading our posts. Uniden is going to have a hard time pushing a 636/736 out the door if they have not fully satisfied the current batch of 436/536 users.

That's my take on the situation, for whatever it's worth. I will reiterate what I've said here many times. I believe the 436 and 536 units are some of the best scanners ever made, even with their current incomplete feature sets. But the folks that would be most interested in spending money for new top of the line units are the very same folks sitting here waiting for Uniden to get their act together with the current units.

I would hope that Uniden realizes that. We are so close to seeing completion of these feature sets, and yet, at 20 months out since these units first hit the shelves, it seems that we are so very far from being fully satisfied customers.

The waiting game for this firmware upgrade reminds me of the waiting game for the analyze feature.

But when the analyze feature arrived, it wasn't worth the wait.
I wonder if this firmware upgrade will be worth it???

Time will tell.......

Last word was in a couple of weeks but that was almost a month ago. Typical Uniden fashion.

I'm hoping that this firmware upgrade will add more features to the Analyze mode so that it is at least on par with those offered on the HP1 and HP2.

Aren't the most of the Analyze features for the HP-1 and 2 part of the "Extreme Upgrade" $50 add on?

Yes they are. What was implicit was that those "extreme" features would be incorporated into the 436/536 units without any additional cost. Unfortunately, 20 months later, only the very basic Analyze functions are available in the 436/536--- the full functions present in the Extreme package never found there way into the 436/536 units, much to the dismay of many of the users.
