don't hold your breathe, they will get to you after they release a few new models.
The x36 has not been replaced by any other line, and likely won't be for years.
I will also remind you that the rebanding firmware updates were released several models post-discontinue, so their track record is actually pretty good for discontinued models (of which the x36 line is not)
I have to agree with Voyager--- I don't think we are going to see any more "top-of-the-line" models from Uniden, at least not until the 436/536 feature set has been completed. The HP2 and the 996P2 were not really "new"--- they were merely logical extensions of existing hardware with Phase II capability incorporated.
The most informed and knowledgeable Uniden users are right here on this forum; for every active member contributing information here, there are likely 100 folks just lurking here and reading our posts. Uniden is going to have a hard time pushing a 636/736 out the door if they have not fully satisfied the current batch of 436/536 users.
That's my take on the situation, for whatever it's worth. I will reiterate what I've said here many times. I believe the 436 and 536 units are some of the best scanners ever made, even with their current incomplete feature sets. But the folks that would be most interested in spending money for new top of the line units are the very same folks sitting here waiting for Uniden to get their act together with the current units.
I would hope that Uniden realizes that. We are so close to seeing completion of these feature sets, and yet, at 20 months out since these units first hit the shelves, it seems that we are so very far from being fully satisfied customers.
