When is someone going to make a VHf/UHf SDR?

Some hams don't and or can't use HF , So I say make a all mode 50-1300 MHz radio, Use the Yaesu FT-736R as a way to do it. But with SDR controls (like a FLEX) with band modules (10 to 20 watts) covering the 50, 144, 220, 430, 440 and 1200 MHz amateur bands. . I will buy 1 !

Try the IC-9100 out for starters. List is about $3800. the 1200 MHz module is an add-on. You can get the same multiband capability for 1/4 the price by going the transverter route.

There are guys using SDR transceivers as an IF radio for home built transverters, and getting excellent results. But to my knowledge, nothing commercially off the shelf yet. With a little bit of research, and some creative effort, you can build exactly what you want using off the shelf equipment.
