When using AC adapter to PC - is the unit using my batteries or AC power?

Hi there. I tried to research this a bit beforehand but came up short. Does anyone know if I'm plugged into a power source with my USB ac adapter, but still have batteries in the scanner; is it running off of the AC adapter or the Batteries in the scanner?

I know that I can run the scanner without batteries and the AC adapter, but that's not what I'm trying to seek out.

With the adapter plugged in, it's running solely off that. When you first plug the adpter into the scanner (especially if you have not yturned it on yet), you'll get a prompt asking if you want to charge the batteries in the scanner. For the 325P2, you cannot charge the batteries as well as scan systems at the same time. It's either/or.

I think it primarily uses the external power, but could draw on the batteries if necessary (instantaneously more power than the supply can provide).
