In reviewing the communications protocol I noticed that the SQL steps on the 996 have been increased to 19 from the 396's 15:
996: Squelch Level (0:OPEN / 1-18 / 19:CLOSE)
396: Squelch Level (0:OPEN / 1-14 / 15:CLOSE)
Do all of the extra SQL steps on the 996 fall in the theoretical space between the 396's 0 and 1 settings? If not how many would you say comparatively fall between the 396's 0 and 1 settings?
What I'm trying to determine is how much closer to open on the 996 can we get then we could on the 396 (without actually being open).
