Just wanting something to listen to. I'm in Illinois. :) Any DMR Talkgroups or talkgroups in general would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.

If you've checked your county in the Illinois database and can't find what you're looking for then I can suggest Digital Frequency Search, it allows you to search licensees by state and county. However this brings up every licensee with authorized DMR emissions in their frequency allocations and does not necessarily guarantee you that they are indeed using DMR.

If amateur radio is what you're after, here's a list of DMR capable repeaters in Illinois

Lastly the folks in the Illinois Radio Discussion Forum should be able to recommend some DMR for you to listen to. Feel free to click the Report link at the bottom of your posting if you'd like the admins to relocate this thread there. Happy DMR-ing!

Search Brandmeister talk groups and you will find a list of all that are available, or just try DMR talk groups.

What area or county of Illinois are you in? I could send you a few DMR systems in the area if there are any.

i was looking to get the SDS100 radio and was wondering if the DMR upgrade is useful to have in lake county? I see some hospitals are licensed for it, but not sure what they are using it for.

As far as I can see after looking at Lake County Condell Medical Center, Highland Park Hospital, Durham School Bus, Big Hollow SD Busses, Fox Lake SD, Freemont SD, Lake Zurich SD, Lirbetyville SD, Lincolnshire - Prarie View SD, Milburn CCSD, North Shore SD, Round Lake SD, and Warren Twnp SD use DMR as their own systems/channels. Abbott Labratories has a DMR System. There are also a few systems that owned by a communicatios company and used for diffrent reasons. Some of them are TeamConnect, Radi-Link, and TRBOconnection. As for McHenry County there is a hospital and a School bus using DMR. Cook County there is many DMR sytems, some schools/bus companies, public works, EMS Agencies, using single-freq DMR. And Kenosha County; the sheriffs detention center is using DMR and a energy company

So when I heard countryside ambulance approach Condell medical center on analog, they must switch to a different system. Would this be a DMR system possibly that could be listened to?

I am debating getting the DMR and NXDN upgrades for lake county, IL so this conversation helps of it adds value

Thanks!

When an ambulance is in route to the hospital they are required to give a inbound patient report before arriving. Most hospitals are using a call in system that plays on a loud speaker in receiving hospital's ER. If it is done by radio it would be on the statewide paitent reports (MERCI 155.34 PL Varies by Hospital). The hospital cannot use DMR as a patient reporting system unless all ambulance companies approve and get a DMR compatible radio for the trucks or they keep a call in system or use MERCI and DMR as a secondary channel. As I'm looking at the DMR system for Condell Med Center the only talkgrop on the system is security. For paitent reports they use 155.34 PL 67.0 and 155.4 PL 67.0.

I am literally down the road from condell, and am scanning on those 2 frequencies on my 296D and have never gotten a hit on them. I imported them as MERCI1 and MERCI4 from the RR DB. I see and hear ambulances go past all the time so I wonder why I don't pick them up?

Thanks for he input! I still go back and forth if the DMR upgrade is worth it in this area.

Good luck on your decision. The MERCI channels are really ever used. I know of 1 hospital that uses those channels. But it's a small hospital. There is a good chance their using a call in method.

Actually, there are almost certainly more talkgroups in use there (i.e. security alternate, engineering, environmental services, shuttle buses, valet parking, etc. etc.) but they have yet to be submitted to the Radio Reference database. PLEASE submit what you're hearing out there if it isn't already in the database. Thanks in advance!
