Hey all you Scantenna owners,
Where is the most popular place to get a Scantenna purchase?
And how does it compare on the 225-400mhz area compared to a discone?

Just to vouch for it...

I bought a Scantenna about 4 years ago and put it 25ft up on a home-made mast using iron gas pipe from the local hardware store.

It's still up there after hard Memphis storms and there's nary a flaw.

Great antenna, I definitely recommend it.

I don't remember where I got it, sorry. :(

I've had great luck with these folks... http://www.antennawarehouse.com/Scanner/Scan-index.htm

They claim to have a "heavy duty" Scantenna that I've had up on the mast for a good amount of time now.

Good luck!

I also purchased from these guys a couple years ago--wanted another one and the website says " out of stock" via e-mail, they advised me they do NOT intend to stock or sell them anymore.............

The Scantenna is a great antenna..
Just above it I have an Enhanced Discone Scanner Antenna by the Lakeville Company.

I have had it for at least 15 years now and it's still going strong.
This antenna has always impressed me and visitors to my shack.
Sorry I don't listen enough to 225-400 to do a comparison.
