Not only did they drop the MPT-1327 format CBSA swapped out the Tait (3000's) radio's for Hytera radio's (PD 682's) for most normal ops comms are still simplex on 408 mhz. Yes it's true Canadian Government using Chinese made radio's now...whats next Chinese police cars and fighter jets?

It is sad. The big issue being Moto and Harris etc have priced themselves out of the market and offer only overtly complex solutions to a relatively simple customer need. CBSA only really needed encrypted simplex or repeater preferably with a compatible channel or link system to the US side. Most of the crossings could even use the same freq or if needed a ch1 ch2 approach.
