Depending on the cut over, the freq may be listed as "depreciated" or outright deleted. In the handbook, the deprecated freq's should not remain in the database for a long period of time. The uniden software will see that tag and not scan a depreciated channel.

New Jersey Interoperability Communications System (NJICS) Trunking System, Statewide, New Jersey - Scanner Frequencies

is the link to the NJICS. Scroll down until you see Palisades Interstate Parkway Talkgroups about halfway down the screen. The DB is showing that they are using P25 Phase II talkgroups which can only be monitored with a GRE PSR 800 or either one of the new Unidens that are expected out any day now. And it shows they are using encryption sometimes on these TGID.

What kind of scanner are you running ? The PIP talk groups are Phase II which can only be monitored on the GRE PSR-800 or the new Uniden BCD-436HP & BCD-536HP scanners which just started shipping this week.

Thanks for the information. Currently running HP1 scanners in the base and mobile.

Not quite ready to drop another 5 or 6 hundred bucks on another scanner to listen to the PIP PD, and certainly not until user reviews are forthcoming and the prices drop, which they will.

FWIW. As crazy as it sounds, the use of encryption isn't a matter of policy but rather is arbitrary depending on who's dispatching. Most enable the encryption, others are fellow radio geeks and turn it off at the dispatch console (and they can on their setup).

So it's a matter of listening on the right night.
