Tracy (San Joaquin Co.) has apparently made good on their plan to vacate VHF. I rode by the station today and all the vehicles have much shorter antennas (UHF or 800) on them now. The newspaper ran a story a while back about them going to digital trunking, but there are no licensed frequencies in the RR database for Tracy.

Any thoughts?

Try 453.975 (unknown PL). A TPD Officer that I went to the academy with once told me that they were contemplating going UHF at some point; they may have made the move.

I wonder if their radios also have the Sheriff's office frequencies in them. There used to be an SO channel labeled "Tracy" in some references. Also, wonder what happened to the weather data that used to be on the 453 MHz. channel?

453.975

The channel with that frq. needs to have the "steps" changed. While on that channel hit menu, then "channel data" then "select" that channel, then scroll down to #6 for "steps" then "select" and then scroll to #8 "auto". Now enter 453.975 again. It will show as 453.975 MHz.

Check your step setting for the channel number that you are trying to use. It sounds like it is set for 5 or 10 KHz. It needs to be AUTO or 12.5 to get to 453.975 in a 780. Under menu item #2 CHANNEL DATA, go to #6 STEPS. Choose 12.5 or AUTO. You should be able to enter 453.975.

See also page 16 of your 780 manual.
