Jersey City resident since '98. Working as IT manager in the financial industry.

Before that, Bethlehem, PA resident. Security guard/bus driver. Big Buck$!! (not)

Before that, Bethlehem, CT resident - teacher at a private school. Also Big Buck$$!! (not)

Before that, Meriden, CT resident - worked for Yale Med School in IT. Pathetic Buck$$

Before that, New Wilmington, PA, where I went to college and got my first ticket. Worst radio hole EVER.

Before that, Erie, PA, first year of college, where I first learned about Amateur radio (late eighties) at Gannon University (original club call: WB3DWL).

Before that, Fairview PA. CB days.

Before that, the womb. That was before the micro-HT days, so operating was especially tough, but I still got my CB WAS. :p

Born in New Brunswick, raised and still live across the river in Highland Park. I got into scanning back in 2001, and my shack consists of a Pro-95 and BC30xlt-1, hooked up to a J-Pole and a mag mount (my shack is small due to living in an apartment and being a broke teenager). I monitor as much of Middlesex County that I can pull in, NJSP Troop B, Railroads, and occasionally the NYPD and aircraft.

Live in Jackson Twp, Ocean County began scanning some 30+ years ago in Clementon, Lindenwold and along the White Horse Pike (Rte. 30) in Camden County mostly listening to traffic in the local towns PATCO and Philadelphia. In Central Jersey, listen to Troup C NJSP and Troup B as well as NY/NJ PAPD while enroute to NYC. I drive for a living and the scanner has helped me avoid traffic delays or at least I know why we're not getting anywhere. I've had many scanners over the years, updating as the technology changed, having begun with a PRO-6 (I think that was the model #) using 4 chrystals. My current scanner is the 396T used with an earpiece. Being very mobile, I have no need for a base scanner or a 'homephone' (soooo 1900s!) and according to my DL, I reside in a PO Box. Listen to my local area when I'm home, utility companies, transit bus and rail, NJSP and since my town has gone trunked digital/full-time encrypted {:<), SPEN or the trunked EMS/Fire is the only way to keep up with what's going on here. I am limited to a top-of-the-set antenna since I live in a ground-floor condo but despite this limit, I do get good local reception with the two after-market antennae I purchased with the scanner. I've never experienced a base antenna's performance so I don't know what I'm missing. At the moment I'm content with what I have.

Hi...I'm from...

... Bristol, Pa, just south of Trenton... retired newsman from The Trentonian newspaper... started in the late sixties w/ a RS Pro-1 (tunable high band), then to the first crystal scanners, then the BC101, BC100, and the BC210... after a dozen or more BC, RS, Regency and IC radios, I ended up with the BC250D and the 785D, now use two 396's, RH96 and a IC-75 w/ a ground plane on the roof and a 200' long wire... nice to meet you all... Bob Castelli.

I have been living in the Binghamton NY area for the last 19 years. But, I grew up and started monitoring (started a couple of years before scanners came out) in the Ridgewood/Saddle River area. Lived in Belleville for 8 years while in medical training at New Jersey Medical/University Hospital. Was lucky enough to be assigned a summer project at REMCS. Spent a couple of months working with the REMCS dispatchers as well as some time in the ambulances in beautiful Newark. As a bonus I was able to spend a day observing the controllers in the Newark Airport control tower.

Have collected a fair number of scanners over the years. But, really love the Uniden 396 with Butel ARC software and its huge memory. It is nice not having to reprogram the scanner everytime I travel back to NJ or the other places I visit.

I'm from Berlin, Camden County, NJ. Had my Pro-99 for almost a year now. Looking to get something that monitors Trunked frequencies though. I really enjoy this! Monitor Camden county PD and EMS/Fire as well as Gloucester county, Atlantic County EMS/Fire. I can also pick up Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery County dispatch. When I travel to Lancaster, pa i get fire, medics and police from the PA turnpike, Lancaster, Berks, Lehigh, and Cecil (Maryland) Counties.

I am sure you have been able to keep up with some of the Fire comms due to the wildfires...
