• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

In MOL this is all I see. It doesn't look like an installation file for the MOTOTRBO CPS. What am I missing? I just ordered MOTOTRBO RADIO MGMT LIC, do I just need to wait until that processes until it shows up?

It's not listed there. Call MOL. Probably a permissions issue if you paid for the subscription.

Ok I think that's the confusion then. I don't think I paid for a subscription. I purchased (for free) a License. So I'll have to go take another look.

Thanks.

that may explain it. CPS is a subscription product, so they'll probably sell you a sub and once paid, they'll add it to your account and then you can download it.
That's how I remember it when I bought the APX CPS, but I guess I assumed the item I had in my cart was the actual subscription.

Thanks everyone.

I can't edit my original post anymore, but I finally got access to my downloads (MOL changed since my last purchase).

What's the difference in:

MOTOTRBO CPS 16.0 Build 828 (Standalone)

and

MOTOTRBO CPS 2.0 2.21.61.0

CPS 16 is the older CPS (the better CPS)

CPS2.0 is Motorola's new version of the TRBO CPS, and if you have done any searching at all you will find that 99% of people dislike CPS2.0 very much.

If you can, absolutely avoid CPS2.0 until Motorola can fix it or completely dump it(Yea I know i'm completely dreaming here).

I have a quick question RE "MOTOTRBO CPS 16.0 Build 828 (Standalone)". I have it installed in 2 computers (Windows 7). I just downloaded the firmware update files (under "Conventional - Firmware) menu item. Once you download the firmware file, you have to extract it and it installs the firmware file "package" on your hard drive/computer. Then when you are in the CPS software and you read a radio, you can select to "upgrade" the firmware. Both of my computers are doing the same error. The "packages" are installed & show in the "programs" list, but the CPS software doesn't detect/or find the recently installed "packages". I have rebooted the computers over & over and it still won't detect them?

Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? Both computers share the same CPS software & same firmware files, both are having identical issue.?. Thank you!

I'm having different issues. My radio is on version CPS 12.00.16, when I installed CPS 16.0 and try to read the radio it gives an error saying unable to detect an applicable device. How do I resolve?

Try uninstall and reinstall also try cleaning contacts on your radio.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

No seriously, connect the programming cable and power off and on the radio. Your computer should then recognize it and it should work. I had that problem once and I couldn't figure it out even though radio recognized the cable.

So I think it's a driver issue but I don't know how to resolve.

Firmware is: R02.08.01.0000

I downloaded CPS 16.0 build 828

My PC (Win10) is recognizing it as a COM port. I don't know how to get the right drivers.
