Where does a person get a scanner radio (radio shack model) repaired in Regina? I had a slip and fall while carrying my Pro-2055 scanner and broke the BNC connector. There use to be a guy who worked in the Cornwall mall who performed minor radio repairs for cheap, but he has since moved on. Anyone got any recommendations ?

You could try a radio shop that is willing to give a go at it, you could try an electronics outlet that specializes in small repair, while that unit is made by GRE , you could send to USA for factory repair, you could try local career college that has electronics dept and see if dept head is willing to give it a go. Problem is they will look at it and say I dont have part , depending on condition of BNC connector, as it has a pin that requires to be re-soldered to pcb board, you also dont know extent of damage to PCB board where it mates to chassis. Your best bet enquire with GRE USA and see what they say. You could look to see if there are other guys in Regina that still do electronic repair. (Yellow pages)

Hi Freeman

I live in Regina and taken some dj controller and automotive circuit boards to Any Electronics 259 Scarth St, Regina · 306-352-7466 they seem to have a willingness to look at anything. I was going to take my BCD 436HP there but a friend said he could replace the GPS connector on the unit best of luck and happy scanning.

That guy from the Cornwall that used to fix radios for cheap is still in Regina, but retired, I think he lives on Hamilton St. at or near 13th Ave.

However I doubt he is in the radio repair business, any more. That place on Scarth is your best bet.

Thanks for the information about the guy from the Cornwall Centre. I heard that he came into some money and moved to Toronto.

This isn't my main radio but I always like to have one scanner dedicated to air and railroad monitoring..and this one was it.

That Cornwall Centre guy is still in Regina. I saw him board a transit bus back in early Jan., and I know he often visits friends and relatives in the Cornwall Centre.

Got a hold of my radio guy. He cracked it open and in no time at all we discovered that not only did I break the BNC connector, but I also broke the circuit board as well. Didn't expect to see that! Since it isn't a digital scanner, I am not sure its worth investing money into repairing it.
