I've been trying to listen to Indiana State Police, District 52 on SAFE-T (Greenwood Tower) and hear nothing on talkgroups I have programmed for them (listed in the RR database). The scanner works fine on everything else (SAFE-T, MECA, CONV, etc). Can anybody tell me what I don't know?

Thanks for the reply Yaris...any chance you are listening to District 52 traffic on the Greenwood Tower?

You wont hear District 52 on the Greenwood Tower, as the system waves off any radio trying to affiliate with District 52 talkgroup.

This was done as Greenwood had the added tower placed in Greenwood for coverage issues to assist Greenwood PD, as a result alot of ISP traffic / talkgroups (primarly District 52) was overloading the available freq on the site causing Greenwood to get busy channel tones (bonks), so it was setup to pass of all ISP talkgroups to surrounding towers, except if the emergency button on the radio is activated, then the tower will allow that assigned radios to use the Greenwood tower for radio traffic.

BTW BTW K9JRF...is there anything else that the Greenwood SAFE-T tower ignores that you're aware of?

I'm not aware of anything else but that doesnt mean there isnt...

I have heard Hendricks County Dispatch while attached to Greenwood site and other areas Dispatches from other counties so it seems to be only ISP, however, I only have the Law Enforcement Template in my radio so it limits what I have access to listen to.

ISP use mobile and portable radios, which the mobiles get good signal in Greenwood to all surrounding sites.,

However Greenwood PD primarly only using portable radios on the system and not mobile radios which is why they had the extra site added in Greenwood (to resolve coverage issues), in addition Johnson County was one of the orginal first test areas for the SAFE-T system, so the state wanted to keep them happy..

Thanks for all the info K9JRF. I recall that Greenwood was pretty upset about SAFE-T coverage when it was first installed. I believe they went back to their analog system for a while until the new tower was installed. ISP is coming in Lima Charlie on adjacent towers!
