The last thing I heard with the OKCFD was a structure fire ealier this morning.
I haven't heard anything since, no dispatches, no nothing.
I just heard on the OKC County Dispatch channel and the OCSO
being dispatched to assist OKCFD on a fire on Hogback Road
(or something like that, I'm not real familiar with road names since
I haven't been living in Oklahoma long)
an OHP car asking where all the OKCFD trucks were going,
and now OKCPD on scene doing traffic control.
Anybody else not getting OKCFD?

I'm getting them fine.. I've heard several calls all day. I've been listening since about noon.

You might double check all your frequencies..

155.05500 Fire Station Alerting/Dispatching
453.15000 Southeast Fireground
453.35000 Dispatch / Fireground
453.60000 Dispatch / Fireground

Thanks,
I've got all those frequencies and more.
I'm not sure why I quit getting anything on those channels.

This is a mystery to me.
Receiving well this morning and then nothing,
without even touching the scanner.
All the other frequencies on all other banks are fine.
Maybe some kind of unexplained atmospheric interference in my room
surrounding my scanner and it's antenna
blocking transmissions on the OKCFD frequencies

Nah, it's a new tax run through by the outgoing state Demo legislature. It's the PTH tax - Pay To Hear. You haven't paid the tax for listening to the FD, so they shut off the airwaves to your antenna. I can help, tho. Just send me $5 and I'll forward it the state Monitoring Commission. Allow 2 to 4 business days for your payment to be processed.

Nah!

Dang those rascally 'ole Dems and their tax hikes.

This morning everthing was coming in fine.
At least the radio check did, then I had to go to work.
I don't get it.
Maybe it's time for a new antenna.
Right now I'm using this one.
I can't put anything on the outside, but I have a high roof line in the attic.
Would it be good to get a better antenna and put it somehwere up high in the attic?
And what would be a good antenna to use?

That's a good back-of-set antenna, I use a couple of them myself. Not great on 800 at a distance, but good VHF/UHF reception.

The rule of thumb is the higher the antenna, the better. If you want better reception, then putting an antenna in the attic would be a good idea. I'd recommend a good discone and low-loss coax. I don't recommend the RS discone, but since it will be indoors it should be ok. But I'd really suggest you spend the extra and get a quality discone. You can use good quality RG-6 QS (Quad Shield) coax. Coax for sat. dish installs should be okay. Do NOT use RS RG-58 or RG-8 coax, it's junk.

coax or rubber ducky?

ARE YOU USING A RUBBER DUCKY OR COAX?

IF YOU ARE USING A COAXAL CABLE, YOU MIGHT HAVE A PINCHED LINE OR BROKE CONNECTION.

COULD BE A DEAD SPOT TOO.

Thanks for all that info K5MAR.
Would the RS discone be good for the attic?

@ LAYMAN:
The antenna is connected straight into the back of the scanner.
And the scanner is in the same location it's always been.
That's what got me perplexed. Nothing changed.

Yeah, I'm including the attic when I say indoors, as the antenna wouldn't be exposed to the weather in your attic. At least, I hope not! The problem is the construction of the RS discone is decidedly on the cheap side. They just don't stand up to our Oklahoma winds!

WHAT KIND OF SCANNER DO YOU HAVE?

Do you have a Pro-95?

If Yes, then check to see what mode you are in, if you are in Mot (Motorola), mode this could be the prob., switch the mode to "FM".

Also do you have the Attenueter on? If so , turn it off.

Hope this helps.

No, I use a BC785D.
Yes, attenuator is off.
But I did notice that some of the channels were set to NFM mode,
so I just changed them all to FM.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but we'll see.

I haven't had a chance to get a new antenna yet, but hopefully soon.
