I just bought a RS PRO-2096 and and do not know how to program it so I was going to us the preloaded freqs for Michigan #8 in the manual....but when I tried to load it it just said "blank"?
Theres no Michigan Preloaded freqs??
Should I take it back....and ask for another scanner?

Chances are none of the new ones have the preloaded data, but did you check any of the other V-Folders? PGM-Func-PGM, 2-LOAD, number key 8?

You can download the "old" files and install them with Win96 if you have a programming cable:

Yeah....all the other preloaded state freqs are there...I loaded Ohio...because I figgered it was close..so mebbe they use the same freqs?
All the #s had there preloaded data except MI.?
No it did not come with a puter cable.
This is to complex for my feeble old brain:D Im used to my old 2030 that all you have to do is punch in the freq and hit enter! :D
Heck I can practically throw a rock and hit the darn tower from my home.:)

Looks like Calhoun County. Here's what you do:
Turn on the PRO-2096.
Press Man, PGM, 000, PGM.
Type in 868.925, press "E" to enter, now press MODE until it says +MO in the upper left of the display.
Press PGM again.
Enter 868.425, "E" to enter, now press MODE again until +MO is displayed.
Press PGM again.
Enter 867.925, "E" to enter, press MODE until +MO is dispayed.
Now press MAN. Press FUNC, Press TRUNK, press MODE until you see "Bank 0-0 ON ID No. 00 Motorola" on the display.
Now press SCAN.

You should start hearing and seeing talkgroups when the system is active.

Here are all the tower frequencies:
114 Albion* 866.27500 866.92500 867.42500 867.92500* 868.42500* 868.77500 868.92500*

Here are some of the talkgroups you will hear:
Calhoun County (13) Talkgroups

DEC Display Description
3077 13DRUG Countywide Narcotics Enforcement Common
3235 13P911 9-1-1 Central Police Dispatch (Patched with 155.535)

Load the V-Folder "scratch pad". PGM-FUNC-PGM, 2-LOAD, press "."<--The decimal, "E" to enter, follow the prompts.

Then do your programming.
