Hi,

I would like to purchase a new mobile antenna for my vehicle. I have narrowed it down to Antenna Specialists MON752 and the Austin Spectra. Which one is better or do you have any suggestions to which one I should get. More importantly I know that these antennas are pretty old….do they still make them?

Thanks

I have used the Austin Spectra for the last 10 years and it works great for A 30 thru 900mhz. antenna. Where i live the Highway patrol still uses 42mhz. and lots of 460 mhz. and 800mhz. and the antenna works good on all those Freq's.
The 42mhz. still works best on a quarter wave stainless steel whip cut for 42mhz. but the Austin is a very good 2th. choice.
I also have the Austin CONDOR antenna and it works good from 100mhz on up thru 900mhz. . The Ferret antenna works good on the Base station! I can also Transmitt on the ham bands with it.
I have owned several Antenna Specialists antennas thru the years they all seem to work ok. I don't remember if one of them was the MON752 or not.
I would say if you want to spend that much money on a antenna! The Austin is a good choice. AUSTIN antennas cost more than most other brands but i still think you get what you pay for!
I have 7 Austin antennas and have had all of them for at least 10 years and all of them still work good!
I just done a search for Austin Spectra and it come right up So yes they still make all the ones that i have.

Something i forgot to add in the last post. The Spectra Antenna with the ground plane kit for use as a base station antenna also works very good for 30mhz. thru 900mhz. .
I had it on a 25ft pole and it worked as good as any antenna that i have ever tried!
