I need a good antenna for a scanner with a good range because i spend alot of time on the road but i do not goo too far, and my other antenna is really bad and can only go to the next town untill it starts to break up. The antenna i use now is inside the car that came with the scanner, i was looking at the Comtelco on scanner master ( http://www.scannermaster.com/Comtelco_All_Band_Low_Prof_Antenna_p/07-540719.htm ) or the other three where Antenex ABSCANC( http://www.theantennafarm.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1048 ) , Larsen NMO150/450/800 ( http://www.theantennafarm.com/catal...oduct_info&cPath=191_192_205&products_id=1050 ), or the Maxrad BMAXSCAN1000 ( http://www.theantennafarm.com/catal...oduct_info&cPath=191_192_205&products_id=1051 ).

If someone could tell me the best one to get for distance that will really help thank you.

All of your choices are basically "unity gain" or similar to a 1/4 wave whip on each band. I have the Larsen and the Maxrad and I kinda prefer the Maxrad, it seems to work slightly better on VHF air band. I haven't noticed any performance difference otherwise.

is there any difference between the power part, and does it matter about the freq. range. i noticed one that goes from 150-840 and the other between 150-800. the two i am trying to decide between are the maxrad and the antenes. Which one do you think is the best to go with for range and everything i need.

There are many other factors that can effect how far one can hear from X amount of distance, most of which have nothing to do with the antenna choice you are trying to make.
Just a few examples are: Power output of the transmitter; the transmitters antenna height and gain factor; the transmiting antennas height above the surround terrain; etc ; etc.
Many stations are engineered to only cover a certain area with minimal coverage for frequency reuse and licensing purposes. Its quite possible you will not be able to hear the transmitters you want to from the areas you travel in due to many reasons.
