Assuming a 50 foot run of LMR-400 for both... which of these 2 antennas will perform better at 851 MHZ mounted at 30 feet?

Do not care about other bands/ freqs. 851 Only. RX Only.

1) Tram 1411 or
2) Tram/Browning BR-6283

Thank You.

The Tram/Browning BR-6283 will perform better at 851 mHz because it offers gain at 800 mHz frequencies (3dB per spec). The 1411 is a unity gain broadband frequency coverage discone. Since you "Do not care about other bands/ freqs." there is no reason to consider the 1411, which offers no gain at 851 mHz... and is not designed specifically for 800 mHz (the 6283 IS for 800 mHz).

The two antennas the OP asked about are omnidirectional. A Yagi / beam antenna focuses its pattern for receiving (and transmitting) in primarily one direction (and a specified beam width). So if the OP needed 800 mHz reception primarily from one direction, then yes the Yagi would be a better choice. But if the OP is interested in receiving from multiple directions, then and omnidirectional antenna will accomplish that. The other option would be to install a rotator to turn the Yagi antenna, but then when the Yagi was pointed to say, the west.... signals from other directions would be weaker or nonexistent.
