Hello
Which Boston PD Zone covers BU? Is it the Allston zone? Or is the area exclusively covered by BU PD?

BU has it's own Campus (Sworn State Police Specials) Police (Area D)

However, the neighborhood streets are patrolled by Boston Police as well as some of the neighboring roads by the MSP. BU also covers the former Boston University Medical Center now BMC over in Roxbury (Area B)

As noted Boston University has it's own PD which covers university owned property and to a very small extent the property around it. The BUPD officers are sworn Boston special police officers, not State police specials. They may also be sworn as Suffolk County deputies, but I'm not 100% certain. On calls to BU owned property that is not on the campus proper, it is common for both BUPD and BPD Area D to respond. That's District 4.

BU uses Armstrong as it's EMS provider, not Boston EMS. Boston College also uses Armstrong and they are dispatched by cell phone, not over the radio. BC also encrypts their radio traffic, I'll leave you to speculate why.

Boston PD District 14 also spends some resources on off campus BC housing. During the beginning of the college year, they have "BC Gang" cars working on the weekend overnights. There is a fair amount of rowdyism among BC students. There is also some amount of violent crime on the campus itself and occasionally they will have to call Boston PD or Newton PD, as well as Boston EMS, but it's pretty rare.

Northeastern is much the same as BU, only they do call Boston EMS for ambulance service.

BUPD patrols the Boston University School of Medicine Campus on Harrison Ave, they do not patrol the property of Boston Medical Center. That is patrolled by the unarmed Boston Medical Center PD. It can get confusing since BUSM and the East Newton campus of BMC are intertwined. Signs on doorways inform people if they are entering or leaving BUSM or BMC property.

Boston PD responds to the hospitals as well, which is in Area D, not Area B. The line of demarcation is actually Melnea Cass or was the last time I looked.

The situation is much the same at the other hospitals. Harvard University PD patrols Harvard Medical School, which is right near Children's Hospital, Brigham and Williams, and Beth Israel, but each of those hospitals has it's own security. Tufts PD patrols the Tufts Medical School campus, which is right next door to Tufts Medical Center, but TMC has it's own security force.

None of the hospital PDs are armed in Boston, although most of them have special police officers. MGH, BMC, and TMC, run their own PDs, while the others use private security companies. Most of the college PDs are armed, even at the smaller campuses.
