I'm wanting a duplex hotspot and wondering which ones are best these days.
I'd like to have the latest generation of Raspbery pi to insure speed and longevity.
I also want to install WPSD.

Any suggestions?

I am also interested in the same. I am interested to learn why some folks use P25 and why others use DMR with hotspots.

How does the M1KE from SharkRF compare to the Openspot 4 Pro? Are they similar?
No. The Openspot is a Hotspot which Receives the Uhf Digital signal from the digital radio of your choice, and the wifi from your phone or computer and uses ROIP or Radio over internet protocol. A Much better choice that the M1KE, which won't even allow you to use Any radio. The Openspots are also Cheaper in price than the M1KE.

IF you wish to use D-Star on a Openspot, then you'll need the Openspot 4 Pro, otherwise the other digi modes will work fine with the OS3 or OS4.

An openSPOT4 or openSPOT4 Pro acts as a bridge between the RF of your radio and a digital voice network.

An M1KE eliminates the need for you to have your own radio. You use the M1KE to connect to the digital voice network of your choice and then you speak into the M1KE to communicate with that network.

Is the openspot4 duplex? I thought all the SharkRF were simplex (but I have the version 1 so perhaps that has changed)

Really, the only duplex hotspots out there are the Chinese jobbies from Ebay or Amazon. Anything more than a Raspberry pi zero 2 is overkill and an unnecessary expense. Insofar as WPSD, I don't support it; not because it sucks; but because I believe the creator is a dick.
