@Bonkk083

You have created one thread on 06/12 titled: "Which is the better scanner" that has spun off 80+ posts much of which is unrelated to the original subject, the thread has gone way off topic. When the topic changes you should be creating a new post in the proper category.

Thank you.

Can the 536 scan faster I have delay receiving
That's one of the major bugs in SDS scanners that Uniden needs to fix. For no apparent reason they slowed down scan rate to half in one firmware version and all that followed. Search speed are still the quick one so there's no hardware or logical reason to reduce scan speed. It's been like that for 2-3 years without Uniden doing anything about it, or releasing any type of firmware update, besides the ones to handle new hardware components to replace obsolete ones to be able to sell scanners.

Would taking off pl tones are adding priority channels are removing channels with the same frequencies

Uniden only checks for carrier when it scans, so squelch level are important. If it detects a carrier it then tries to do what the channel are programmed to do in the scanner, detect subtone or a digital signals color code or other parameters and when its done doing that and didn't find a match it will continue to scan. So any carrier or interference will slow down scan rate. If you set the squelch to zero it will try and decode whatever is in the noise and scan rate are then down to 4ch/s.

It's only the SDS100, and probably also SDS200, that are running at half speed. Most other Uniden scanners run at 80-90ch/s
This half speed happened when the sample rate for the debug log was reduced to half, some sort of firmware coding mistake where done. Debug log doesn't exist in other scanners.

The 536 and 996 seems slow to me compared to Pro-197

You can easily test by creating a conventional analog department and create a search range using Proscan or ARC, both have demo mode that allows you to do that but ARC needs the resulting channels to be copied and pasted into Sentinel. Use something like 500 channels and take time how long it takes to do one scan cycle and divide 500 by the time in seconds. Remove antenna to not receive any signal that will interrupt the scan. Then use a suitable program to do the same to your Pro-197.

With the Pro-197 I have some without pl tones didn't know if the 996 could be programed like that

If you have a GPS unit then you could use location based scanning that will automatically turn off the sites you are not in range of. If you don't then I think it is the amount of sites you have. In that case, assign a SQK (Site Quick Key) to each site. That way you could turn off the sites you are not in range of.

i have my local airport with a certain number of frequencies.
i have an 'airshow' system also in the radio, they share a couple of frequencies.
i also have some airshow groups in the radio and they also share frequencies.
but i have different things set to do certain things and use them by themselves.
so deleting duplicates would not help anything as i would then have to put in all the systems.
so duplicates in the radio are one thing, duplicates in the same system/folder are another.
