If you have a GPS unit then you could use location based scanning that will automatically turn off the sites you are not in range of. If you don't then I think it is the amount of sites you have. In that case, assign a SQK (Site Quick Key) to each site. That way you could turn off the sites you are not in range of.
How can the Noaa be set to push a button instead of going through the menu

If these scanners are anything like the BCD436HP and BCD325P2 handheld ones, it’s night and day on analogue VHF / UHF : the 436 is deaf as a brick on analog while the 325 runs circles around it —same frequencies, same stock antennas, etc.—

There is no difference in the 436 or 325p2 using the same antenna at the same time. As I have both in the car sharing the same antenna on a Stridsberg Multi-Coupler.
To answer the OP guesting ther is no difference in the 536 or 996p2 programmed the same on the same antenna system at the same time.

I tried both with the same outside antenna and the 996 had 4 bars and the 536 had 2 from a frequency 60 miles

I'm confused. If you have both, then why did you start this thread and ask this question to begin with?

Your Post #1:
"Is the 996 more sensitive at receiving weak than the 536"?

Who would know the answer to that better than you for what you monitor at your location?
