Ok, i'm going to buy a base scanner for my apartment because i'm sick of not knowing whats going on. :D My only problem is decideing which one to buy. :D

Btw, turns out my dad's company is a wholesaler for uniden. w00t for me! (And you.... hehe. I dont mark anything up *wink*)

Here are my choices:
BCT8 -- I like this one becuase its small and cheap. Only down side is that my dad's company cant get it. I dont know why.

BC898T -- I can get it for the same price as the BCT8. Would this be a better option? I've not heard of this one untill i got this catalog. Hmm... It apear first on the list of scanners on unidens website, makeing it seem as though its new. :D Any know anything about it?

After the last ScanOKC meeting, i'm really into this data sliceing thing. I will definatly be mod'ing which ever one i get. :D So if one of these are easyer to mod, then let me know.

Thanks for your help btw!

-Matt

Oh, btw. If anyone is interested in my prices for the scanners let me know. They are considerably less than retailers.

Not one of your choices, but I'd say the BC-785, if he can still get it.

And if he can, what price? I might be interested!

Hm.. :( Not one of my choices as in.... data sliceing? Or what?

Btw, I want to stay under 200. Thats why i chose those.

The 785D is $285.

Not one of your choices, as in not one of the two you listed. I've not done the slicer bit, myself. I would strongly suggest a scanner with alpha tags, and neither the BCT-8 nor the 898 have that feature. Something to consider.

Feel free to join us at our next meeting if you're interested in learning about Trunker and slicing! I think we'll probably build one the next meeting. That's what everyone had talked about.

As for the scanners, if you can afford a 780.. I'd have to say that's been about the best scanner i've ever owned. For me, my 785 had some reception issues... 780 seems a bit more receptive. That's just my opinion, but I'm very happy with both! Also, the software makes it very easy to program, otherwise you'll be sitting in front of your scanner trying to program it, scratching your head for about an hour like I was! hehe

Wish I could, but I work the 3-11 PM shift, six days a week, with no chance of getting Mon-Thur as my day off. I can't even get off work to go to the EOC meetings!

A weekend morning is fine with me. Just let us know when you'd be available and we can work something out with everyone!
