I am just trying to get an Idea on what to buy, if you have any experience with either of these scanners please give me your input.

I own both Radio Shack and Uniden scanners don't own either one but I would hold out for the 396 uniden is releasing this summer if you can hold out.

I own a Pro-96, a 250D and a 785D. For monitoring Philly, the Pro-96 has the most clear and understandable audio. I'm not sure if the audio improved in the 296/796 models. Feature-wise, I think the Uniden's are better. Features without good audio are worthless. If the audio is as good or better than the Pro-96, the new BCD396T will be the way to go.

What's the difference? The 96, 296, and 396 are all about the same price: $500-525.

I would wait and see what happens with the 396. Second choice, PRO-96.

The Pro-96 will sound great in Millbourne!

The 396 is selling for around $525, same as the others mentioned. I have heard from a few sources so far that the audio is not much better than on past models, I'm still waiting to hear one personally. My Pro-96 does a great job in your area, the only feature I miss with it that the Unidens have is 10 priority channels rather than just the one. Not a big problem I just put our county's Ch. 3 as Priority (my company's home channel) and then load Ch.'s #1,4,5,7 and dispatch in each of the other banks so they are scanned more frequently. If you look around on here and e-bay you can find some good deals on used units.
