Which scanner to purchase

Good morning, my mother-in-law and wife like to listen to the police scanner to see what is going on in the area. We live in Walnut, IA and we were using a REGENCY R1077 Programable Scanner with good results. About a month ago it went dead. I think that we need a digital scanner. Can someone advise me if that is a fact and what scanner would be best for what the ladies do. Thanks.

From the area that you live in -----------If your scanner went dead--------it's not because you need a digital scanner.......your scanner just died for some other reason. There should be plenty of non digital traffic in your area.

As far as WANTING a digital scanner-----Uniden and Radio Shack both have digital scanners for about the same price point.....each has hand held model and a "base" model read up on the on the internet and choose the one you like the best.

Pottawattamie County has went to digital so you will have to get a digital scanner. I am currently trying to get one for the same area. I have been looking at radio shack, that seems to be the best way to go.
