And Why? I say for only my expereince with Pro-95. I say
its a good scanner and I like it alot. Its the only scanner I really
had to listen to while out on the road traveling. The rating
I would give it is a 10

i own a 96, but i too give the 95 a 10. best scanner i owned. i like my 96, but every now and then, i will get a skipping noise (god damn nextel). other than that, i rate the 96 between 9 and 10.

other scanners i have played with...
BC80XLT = i give a rating of 5, about the only thing it is useful for is scanning Maryland State Police and the VHF Fire Dispatch channels

Pro94 = made by uniden, loved the fact that i could have the crosspatch talkgroup (status bit?) programmed into the radio. downfall? poor reception, no alpha tagging, confusing banks (A/B). the 94 recieves a 6 from me

Is it just me, or is the PRO-95 an extremely popular scanner? So many posts start out with "I have a PRO-95" or "I just got a PRO-95" . What , did they make like ten billion of 'em? Are they falling from the sky like rain? I thought they discontinued them a long time ago. :p

The area I live in has VERY limited digital activity. Any tme a friend of mine inquires about the type of scanner to get, I tell them to get a '95 or not to ask me to help program it! I love mine.

Nope, its not just you Ken - the Pro-95 is extremely popular, and with good reason. GRE did an excellent job with that model. If one doesn't need digital or LTR capability - they really can't go wrong with the '95. Using the WIN95 program makes it a snap to set up, and RS has been smart enough to keep the scanner around awhile because there is still a big market for it even after 3 years. Currently on sale at $149.00 - which is what I paid over 2 years ago. I still use mine a lot even though I have a Pro-96, simply because it works great......Alan :D

You'd probably do much better throwing in another $50-$75 and getting the BC246T... If it had digital and v-scanner it would clearly be the "best" available, but in the meantime if you don't need digital you'll do just fine with it!
