Hi folks,

Total newb here. Assume nothing about what I know, because I know nothing. :) Tried searching for this, and came up empty.

The 500 (my first scanner) arrived today, and I had a chance to try to get it going. Using Win500, I figured out how to come here and select number of conventional items from Plymouth County, MA (Plymouth County, Massachusetts (MA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference). My local PD & Fire and a few surrounding ones.

I am at the point where they are in a list and I can get the unit to scan through them just fine. My problem is that the all basically have the same name, e.g., Police Dispatch, and I would like to edit those tags so that I know which one is from which town. What I am not finding, is a way to do that on the PC through the software.

At this point I am not wedded to any package, as I am experimenting in the trial period. If there is a sw package that will let me do this, I will try it out and then if it works, I'll register, etc.

Thanks!

Bob

Bob . . . in Win500, on either the CONV Objects tab or TSYS objects tab, you can double-click on the Alpha Tag field and type in whatever you want it to say. When you upload to the scanner, you'll see it there. Just be aware that if for some reason you download those items from RR again the alpha tags will revert to what's here in the database.

Hope that helps!
