 I also do not have a 'whistler' branded scanner (yeah, a 668'er), but the posts I have read since joining lately, shows the ultra effort this lady shows the forum customers/community. Kudo's Ma-am

Thanks for all you do Wendy. I have had the TRX-1 and 2 now for about a month. Very impressed with their performance here in Los Angeles. Have YouTube videos of P25 and DMR performance here in the center of Los Angeles basin. Always good to have someone like yourself Wendy interacting with the users of these scanners.
Regards

sshermanmd, Steve you usually have a pretty good grasp on the latest scanner stuff. do you like the trx-1 better than the bcd436hp ?. with all the negative thing's i've heard about the 436, i can't see myself buying one.

pdfdems286,
IMO they are two completely different scanners in their operation. I still am more familiar with x36HPs than the TRXs, but find the TRX-1 and 2 to be surprisingly good performing here in radio jungle LA basin. For this reason, I'm making more of an effort to learn EZ-Scan.
Many know from my posts on other threads that the 1095 with a decent outside antenna just totally desensed on me here in Los Angeles (tried two different units) and I returned them. With 1080, less of a problem with desense because using portable handheld antennas, but on weaker P25, decode was really "Donald Duck."
These problems seem to have been resolved with TRX-1 and TRX-2. I can't detect any evidence of desense on TRX-2, even without using anything like a PAR filter. And with weaker P25 (for example, some distant LAPD channels), decode is excellent on both units.
If you are going to be using the 436HP vs TRX-1 mostly portable with an antenna attached directly to radio, the TRX-1 is definitely more sensitive on VHF and UHF. On 800 using RS-800 antenna, 436HP holds it own much better. I actually find it may pick up bit more than TRX-1, but really is a toss up. I still am more comfortable with multiple trunking site system set-ups on x36HPs.
One problem I had with first TRX-1 was it was eating my 2500 Ma Eneloop Pros in a couple of hours. I would turn off scanner, next day batteries were gone. This happened repeatedly. I suspected something up with first scanner and sent it back to Jeff at Ham Station, who replaced it with another unit. The second unit works fine with battery life near 6 to maybe 8 hours.
I have always said that the 436HP and 536HP are best units out there, but the TRX-1 and 2 have provided some great competition. Plus, the audio quality on P25 and DMR is hands down better on the TRXs. I have a lot of NXDN here in LA, so I am waiting for NXDN upgrade on the TRXs. Also loads of DMR, and audio is great.
For a sensitive handheld scanner that you can use the stock or "less of an antenna" and hear lots of VHF and UHF, hard to beat the TRX-1 in my opinion. With good antenna like Diamond 77CA series for VHF/UHF and RS800 for 800, excellent pick up in my opinion.
One final comment. Rich N9JIG posted photos of both units opened. Looks like lot of good shielding. I suspect that has something to do with less desense, but Whistler may have added something else as well.
In short, I think most folks would be happy with either or both the TRX-1 or 2. If you're looking for 3rd party programming and virtual control like ProScan and Butel, then its the 436HP and 536HP. TRX-1 is now becoming my main carry radio these days.

Not only do I appreciate what Wendy does I can honestly say after a repair experience with Whistler in the fall of 2014 I appreciate all of them. When I explained what was going on with my 1080 and the situation that required me to have it back if I sent it in within a week time they went above and beyond to make it happen and kept me informed throughout the entire process. It was honestly one of the best repair experiences on any device I have ever had to send them for servicing.

Unfortunately a few months ago while on a trip someone snagged my bag that had my 1080 in it but I can definitely say for sure there is a TRX 1 in my future.

Wendy and the folks at Whistler have made me a believer in Whistler scanner products. When a company listens to their customer base, and Whistler does, both products and service are always better.

Wendy, the TRX-1 is a fine radio out of the box. There were some issues, but you listened, passed the info on and Whistler promptly released fixes. Keep up the great work!

Looking forward to the release of NXDN!

I just wanted to say that you all have made me feel very special and appreciated! You really made my day when this post was started. I truly don't do all of this alone though. I have a great company that I am blessed to work for and a great group like you that helps us be the best!
As you guys all know, we had some website hiccups last week that were completely unexpected so we had to turn a new site up very quickly. I greatly appreciate everyone of you and your patience as we did so. With all new change there are some bumps but we are figuring them out very quickly and I hope you all see a great asset to you with our website. I am always open to feedback so please do let me know if you don't like something or if we are missing something. Give us a few more days and everything should be back up and running. The updates is a new way of doing things but I think in time you will like it as it will let you know when those files are updated.

Thanks to everyone with the WhistlerWendy fan club - I now have my own blog on the website. It's just getting started but hopefully we can put some fun stuff up there as we go to hamvention and hamcon and field day and all the fun places! And... coming soon - Whistler Wendy gets her ham license. SO CLOSE!

Thanks again guys! You all are amazing!

I know this thread is probably dead, but I felt the need to post my thanks and appreciation to Whistler Wendy for doing such a great job here on the forum. I research extensively before I buy, and I have spent a few hours on this forum these past two weeks both lurking and reading and posting a couple of questions, and Wendy's posts, tips, advice, and explanations have helped tremendously in my decision to go with the TRX-1 as my next scanner of choice, ending a 20-year customer loyalty tenure with Uniden. Great job, and I will continue to read your posts, website blog, and any other prose you continue to produce. Thanks much, and a very Merry Christmas to you! You are greatly appreciated!

Whistler does have a small app to remotely control the TRX. It's up on their website under Support.

No kidding?I learned something new today.Anyone try the App?

Yep, works great... even displays any LED setting you have on the display too. Only thing to watch out for is the Com port setting... check Device Manager before starting the app. Ever since I got my 1088 in April, it's been Com4... until this morning when it came up as Com3. But that's a Windows thing.
