I need a little help, I'm new to the Whistler 1040 scanner. When I'm programming and I'm in "talk group," its says "scan list: *01" and this is where I've saved the channels "frequencies" that I want to listen to. My problem is when I make a "scan list: *2" and add my channels and save, it changes "*1" to the settings I just put in "*2." If I add a *3, it changes *2 and *1 to setting # *3, ect. What am I doing wrong?

My second question is are the "Talk Groups; *1, *2, *3, *4, ect., are these my channel "banks?" By channel banks I mean do the "talk groups" have anything to do with the "numbers" on the front of the scanner you see when it's scanning?

Thanks

Really need to provide some more information, as your post is very confusing.

This scanner doesn't have banks, but scanlists. Scanlists can contain talkgroups and conventional frequencies from any systems. For trunked radio systems the control channels really don't go into the scanlists, but just the talkgroups.

No real need to duplicate talkgroups, since they can be in one one scanlist or more than one. They can even be in all of them if you want.

Sounds like your default scanlist could be scanlist 1.

See the link below to an easier to read manual online for this series of scanner.

Easier to Read Pro-651/652/106/197 - WS1040/1065 - PSR 500/600 Digital Scanner Manual

It is a little dated, but see the link below on how Trunked Radio Systems work. As it's good to kind of know how they work when monitoring them.

I'm hand programming. When I make a new "talkgroup" I put my frequencies in *1 and save it. Now I want to make a second new "talkgroup" and I put my frequencies in *2 and save. Now all my frequencies I put in *2 have overwritten *1 list with the *2 list.
