I am considering purchasing a Whistler 1095 for use in my office.
I am curious how far the remote head can be away from the main unit?
My office is approximately 100 feet from the back of the building (where the coax comes into the building from the antenna mounted on roof). I am trying to cut down on coax length and feedline loss, and run a short length of coax (about 15 feet) as compared to running 100 feet of coax through the building to my office.
The building already has Cat5 cable ran throughout. My office has two dedicated Cat5 lines. One of those lines I am using for internet, the other is not in use. Both Cat5 lines run back directly to the same room that the coax comes into from the roof (where all of our networking gear is located).
So I guess my question is; Can I possibly plug the un-used Cat5 line into the scanner and place it in our server room where the coax is located and then plug the remote head into the other end of the cable in my office?
The un-used Cat5 line doesn't have ends on it yet, so if the wiring diagram for the scanner is different from a standard Cat5 cable (for ethernet) I can have my IT guy custom build the ends for me.
Thanks for your help!!
