Does the upgrade solve the issues with simulcast like garbled audio or dropped messages?

The upgrade may result in some improvement in simulcast reception due to later Whistler firmware updates, but don't expect it to cure the problem. Your scanner becomes a WS1080. The upgrade makes your scanner eligible to be serviced by Whistler if needed.

Thanks for the reply. I'll send it in to be upgraded as the cost is reasonable. It seems that Uniden is the only answer for now in a handheld?

Presently, the Uniden SDS100 and SDS200 are the only scanners designed to receive simulcast systems. The Unication G4 and G5 pagers are excellent but presently have some limitations. They can scan only one system at a time and do not have talkgroup hold or scan delay. They cannot scan a Motorola Type II system. Unication is working on a update to make the pagers more like scanners. Not sure if it will be just a firmware update or introduction of a new scanner.

FWIW I had both my PSR800 and PRO668 upgraded. DMR works good, the 668 which was fairly deaf on 800MHz still is. No real Improvement on the local 800MHz simulcast system. The PRO106 and PSR500 I have still handle that better (go figure)
