Wish they were cheaper. Then I'd take a gamble on the WS1080..but not for $500.
Looks like you'd have to wait on that model anyway. According to Universal Radio, the WS1080 has not been approved by the FCC yet.

I'm starting to think the WS-1080 might not be worth it given that I much prefer a scanner with a numeric keypad. If Uniden fixes the VHF sensitivity issues with the BCD436HP I might give it another look.

As for the pricing of the WS-1080 around the $500 mark - what do people expect ? It competes directly with the BCD436HP and is priced accordingly.

Keep in mind that the WS-1080 is the Whistler version of the PSR-800/PRO-18, so it will likely perform about the same as those previous models.
