Hello! I'm having trouble understanding the software for TRX-2 programming. I tried looking up YouTube videos but none of them help. I'm trying to program it to listen to Montgomery County, PA Fire Frequencies which are P25II. I just want to listen to Fire/EMS Dispatch, EMS Hail/Ops, & Fire Region/Ops 1-6.

Step by step with pictures, haven't seen anything easier than this so far.

Thank you. Do I need to have the actual scanner in a certain position with the Antenna so I can hear what's being said on the frequncies? or does it not matter where the scanner is at in my house?

I have it programmed onto the scanner. I can see the channel name (FireEMS Dispatch), it's like that on Radio Refrence too, but I can't hear anything from the scanner. I pulled up the Broadcastify for it and I could hear county talking on it but from the scanner I couldn't. Volume is all the way up & I followed the above document. Do I have to adjust the squelch on the scanner? or is there another reason why I can't hear it.

Give this file a try. Scan lists 1, 2, and 3 use the East Site. Scan lists 4, 5, and 6 use the West site. You will be able to select either or both of the sites. The interop talkgroups may be used if there is a major incident in the county. Scan lists 1 and 4 have the interop talkgroups. Scan lists 2 and 5 have the EMA talkgroups. Scan lists 3 and 6 have the Fire/EMS talkgroups. You can easily turn off the interop scan lists if any events are interfering with your Fire/EMS scanning. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:
1. E Mont Interop
2. E Mont Emerg Ops
3. E Mont Fire/EMS
4. W Mont Interop
5. W Mont Emerg Ops
6. W Mont Fire/EMS

This is the system you are wanting to monitor. Am I correct?

Both sites on that system are labeled as being ‘Simulcast”. This can severely impact your ability to monitor a system using simulcast sites. See this Wiki page for details on the problems of monitoring simulcast sites.
Simulcast problems are extremely location specific. Sometimes, moving a scanner even just a few feet in one or another direction can make the difference between being able to monitor the system, or hear nothing at all, except perhaps garbled and broken audio. Since you are seeing a talk group on the display, but with no audio, is likely a sign that simulcast issues are keeping you from being able to hear clear audio from the system.

Unfortunately, the Whistler scanners, including your TRX-2 are often affected badly when monitoring sites that are simulcast. The only scanners available that are made to deal effectively with these problems are Uniden’s SDS100 and SDS200. The feed provider may be using one of those models, or possibly using one of the SDR dongles and software to monitor the system using a PC, which is also effective dealing with simulcast. There is also the possibility that his (or her) location is in an area where the conflicting signals from multiple transmit sites are blocked, or at least attenuated enough due to distance (from the sites), or terrain (such as hills, or a cluster of buildings are between the feed provider’s location and the sites so that signals from only one transmitter site are strong enough to allow clear reception. Since a number of the talkgroups on the system are tagged as being available on the ‘calls’ platform of Broadcastify, I suspect a PC, along with one of the SDR dongles may be in use. (See this: Montgomery County Fire and EMS - Digital Live Audio Feed and Montgomery County Pennsylvania Live Audio Feeds ). I see that the feed provider has listed their email address for giving feedback or asking a question. You might ask what is being used for the feed to get some idea if you can somehow configure your TRX-2 to listen.

I'm intimately familiar with the system in question. Assuming OP is in Bridgeport, primary ops are on the East Simulcast (Fire being Region 6). OP may have no pickup on West simulcast from Bridgeport. However Bridgeport is smack dab in the middle of 3 towers on the simulcast cell so simulcast distortion will certainly be a factor with a TRX-2.
